Anaka had spent a reasonable amount of time away from home today. Well, she didn't usually go straight home after school, but today it was almost five and she still wasn't home. Though her mother had gotten better at paying attention to what her children did, she still would care if Ana was home. And her father...well, Ana was good at ignoring people if she wanted to. Her parents were always so busy with ghost hunting and monster hunting, they didn't notice if Ana or Andrew were home late. And when Anaka decided to bring this to their attention, they got angry, so she was walking on egg shells with her parents right now. She loved them to death, but they were so clueless to their childrens lives. She just wanted her parents to see that they were going to lose their children. She couldn't remember the last time she spoek to them. She wasn't even sure if they knew what her interests were anymore. Anaka pulled her headphones off, sitting them down around her neck as she walked into the bookstore. She didn't bother shutting her music off, and she was listening to it so loud that anyone near her could hear it. Get Up and Dance by Faberdrive was the song. Another one of her favourite Canadian bands. She walked past the front counter, offering a smile to the cashier and made her way to the sci-fi/fanatsy aisle of the store. She looked through what was there, taking her time. Some William Gibson, which was one of her favourite Sci-Fi authors...but she wasn't in the mood. Besides, she owned many of his works already. So she made her way to the comic section, picking up a few Manga's, a Spider-Man comic and a Buffy one. Then her final stop, the section that contained all the art books. Anaka enjoyed drawing her own comics, but she was always looking to improve, so she figured a few art books could help. And while she was at it, might as well grab some on painting too. That was she could keep herself busy all weekend and wouldn't have to think about things that upset her. Ana picked up one of the art books, but she was already holding so much, that the rest of her books slipped from under her arm and went crashing to the ground. Ana sighed and placed the art book back on the self and looked down at the scattered books. "Why?", she asked them, like they could answer. outfit here

CHRISTOPHER COLE COOPER Near the back of the old bookstore, Chris was delving deep into a new novel he'd discovered. The shop wasn't particularly busy today, which made it that much easier to become lost in the story. He'd nestled himself into one of the bean bag chairs placed in each corner of the store, and had remained there now for nearly an hour. He knew he should probably purchase the book, seeing as this was a bookstore and not a library, but he couldn't bring himself to get up just yet. There was a tiny stack of other books piled haphazardly next to him as well that he hadn't even glanced at yet.
A sudden series of loud thumps and bangs broke him from his reverie. Placing his book on top of the pile of others, the page he was last on carefully marked with a piece of string he'd found earlier, he heaved himself out of the chair and went to investigate. After walking around and peering down each aisle of bookshelves, he finally found the source of the commotion. A blonde girl who looked to be around his age was standing in the art section, looking down at a scattering of books on the floor. He assumed she'd dropped them. Hearing her exasperated "Why?", the corner of his mouth twitched up into a tiny, crooked smile before he proceeded forward to help her.
He came up from behind her, and so as not to startle her, spoke before he passed.
"Looks like you dropped something," he chuckled.

Anaka looked up at the person who spoke to her. He so kindly pointed out the obvious and Anaka raised an eyebrow. "Oh no. I simply placed them there, where anyone could step on the because I thought that was the best place for them to be.", she answered him sarcastically. Then she sighed and shook her head. "Yes, I dropped them. Sorry for the rude response there...the books made me angry. Blame them.", she said with a small smile. Anaka crouched down and began picking up her books, loading them back into her arms.
"I'm Anaka, by the way.", she said, them she looked up at him with a smile. "Anaka Summers.". After she finished piling her books into her arms, she flicked some of her loose hair out of her eyes. "A boy in a bookstore. Why, that must mean you like to read. A boy who reads....I'm impressed.", she said with a smirk. As far as Ana knew, boys only liked video games, music and trying to be manly. They probably didn't realize how tiring that act got. And Anaka was....well, she was awful and started to blur all males together, personality wise. And this guy was no exception.

CHRISTOPHER COLE COOPER At first, he wasn't sure whether she was joking or was actually annoyed, and he chose not to react, hoping she wasn't being serious. He tried to keep his face as neutral as possible, so as not to annoy her furthermore if she was irritated with the situation. When she made her comment about blaming the books, he mentally sighed in relief, and allowed his smile to freely form onto his face. Crouching down beside her, he helped where he could in picking up the books, passing them to her so she could hold them again. When she introduced herself, he returned the smile.
"I'm Christopher Cooper, but please, by all means, call me Chris. Only my teachers call me Christopher," he laughed.
"Well, generally people who come into bookstores do like to read!" he replied with a smirk of his own. "But yeah, I'm a pretty big reader actually". He also played football, lacrosse, and was a member of Vocal Adrenaline, but he got the sense that she wasn't the type of girl who'd be interested in hearing all that, so he decided to keep quiet for the moment.
"What stuff do you have there?" he asked, nodding toward the stack of books in her arm. It was a pretty big pile... no wonder she'd had difficulty keeping it all together.

Anaka nodded when he introduced himself. "Nice to meet you, Chris. And, glad to know you actually come into bookstores because you like to read. Most guys I run into are here purely to try and pick up chicks. Because apparently, all girls in this town love to read and hang out in book stores.", she said with a laugh. When he asked what books she had chosen out, she looked down at them in her arms. "Um...three volumes of Vampire Knight, two of Fruits Basket, one Spider-Man comic and one Buffy comic.", she told him with a shrug. She was aware of how unbelievably nerdy her selection was. "Oh yes,", she began, and then she picked up the sketching book she had been looking at earlier. "And this too.", she finished.
Anaka held the books close to her chest and tilted her head to the side for a moment. "I was going to pick up a few William Gibson novels...to replace my old ones, but I decided not to. I swear, I read my books to pieces, until they're literally falling a part. The Gibson novels I have now were my moms. Most of them are missing front or back covers.", she babbled. Anaka then realized her babbling, and snapped her mouth closed. She waited a moment, then asked, "How about yourself? Picking up anything interesting?"

CHRISTOPHER COLE COOPER Chris chuckled a little at her comment about picking up chicks at a bookstore, and then followed her gaze to the books resting in her arms as she listed them off. He didn't recognize the first two, but he was obviously familiar with Spider-Man, and he'd heard of, though never read any of, Buffy. She seemed to be a fan of comic books. His eyebrows raised a minuscule amount as she held up the sketchbook.
"You draw?" he asked, nodding toward the book.
He listened patiently as she spoke about her books, nodding in agreement. He also loved to read his favourite books over and over again, and the copies he owned were all well worn and weathered.
"I've never heard of William Gibson... what kind of stuff does he write?" he asked, genuinely curious as to what kind of things she liked reading.
"How about yourself? Picking up anything interesting?"
He nodded again, and gestured toward the back of the store, where he'd been sitting earlier, engaged in a novel.
"Yeah, I found this really intriguing one sitting all by itself on one of the shelves in the fantasy section," he chuckled. "I'd never heard of it before though," he struggled to remember what the title of it even was.
